A1 Group’s largest refurbishment and recycling center was opened in Bulgaria in 2016. The refurbished equipment comes not only from Bulgaria and Austria but also from A1 customers and can be reused after refurbishment. In this way, the value of the devices is maintained for as long as possible and their economic efficiency is maximized at the same time. With the refurbishment center, A1 Group is taking an important step towards zero-waste-to-landfill, as harmful waste is massively reduced and the carbon footprint can be significantly reduced. In addition, the center is equipped with a photovoltaic system that supplies the operation with green electricity.’

Furthermore, A1 Group offers a mobile phone recycling program in almost all of its markets. This gives customers the opportunity to return old devices free of charge and thus also contributes to the conservation of resources. Through this professional disposal, 70 to 80% of the contents of the old devices can be recycled by specialized recyclers and used again as raw materials. In this way, valuable raw materials such as gold, silver, palladium or copper are returned to the cycle.
